The Top Gear Complete Collection - aka Top Gear Ultimate Pack v4.0 By AlexGRFan97 - Owner of the Top Gear and Grand Tour Wikis Special thanks to Robert Williams of Des & Mick Online for all his help with the pre-2002 series After 3 years of tireless work, I present to you my magnum opus: the Top Gear Complete Collection, aka the Top Gear Ultimate Pack v4.0 as I've referred to it in the Reddit thread, mainly for clicks. Unaffiliated with the original author(s) of the Ultimate Pack project, but I might as well take the established name for myself. Though over 900GB in total, the torrent itself is split into several sections: Documentation: 1MB (contains important information such as episode guides, and a spreadsheet for pre-'02 episodes) Fifth Gear: 22GB (only the first 10 series, couldn't be bothered going any further) Home Videos: 296GB Motor Week: 40GB Old Top Gear: 82GB (includes all spinoffs such as Rally Report, The Car's The Star etc.) Top Gear: 467GB (fully loaded with "Best of" episodes and tons of extras) So if for example, you just wanted the MotorTrend versions of S1 & S2, the rest of the episodes to S22 with none of the bonus features (aside from the Polar Special), and absolutely nothing else, you only need 363GB. The first 13 series account for just 110 of those. Anyway, on to a semi-brief overview of what this torrent has. Without it, the framerate may seem slow, choppy and inconsistent, even on higher-end machines. This is because of duplicated frames produced by OBS from recording at 50 FPS, otherwise each episode would be missing frames were I to have recorded them at a lower framerate. If you have any advice on how to fix this issue then please contact me via Wikia. I am aware of plugins for applications such as Adobe Premiere which detect duplicated frames, but such plugins may have an issue with still images (i.e. like those used in The News). Possibly as much as a third of each episode's total filesize is down to these unnecessary frames. I wanted to focus purely on the Original format (1977 - 2001/2) for automotive historians who may have been interested in that sort of thing, as I assumed everything else was adequately covered. Then I noticed there was actual stuff missing, such as the various Clarkson home videos. Then I noticed the stuff that was there often wasn't in the best quality it could have been, with several episodes of Series 8 bordering on unwatchable. Of course, this is mainly down to the original soundtrack of each episode being replaced with crappy royalty-free tracks, but then again, how hard could it have been for someone to record from Netflix or Amazon and then dub the original audio back over? In the end, what I decided to do was make a whole new pack that would become the Ultimate Pack; it's been 5 years since its release after all. Everything would be made sharper and shinier, but most importantly everything would be complete, or as complete as it could possibly be at this moment in time. I now present to you the Top Gear Complete Collection. The definitive, absolute collection for ALL things Top Gear. That said, I cannot guarantee that these will work on a device outside of a computer with the latest codecs. If you get mad at me because they won't work on your Smart TV/Phone/Fridge etc. then that's purely on you. Not only is it not that difficult to compress or re-encode video with the correct tutorials, it is disrespectful of the work I had to do and the money I had to spend in tracking the necessary DVDs and Blu-Rays down and building this collection more or less up from scratch, purely for your benefit. I know this shouldn't be necessary but I've seen this before with similar torrents and it unnerves me to no end. How entitled some people get with something they shouldn't have in the first place. If you don't like this torrent because none of the episodes can be played on your smart device for whatever reason, then repeat after me: "I am an entitled, spoilt, whiny little bitch whose first-world problems are so minute and specific that instead of sucking it up and finding other means to enjoy what has been procured, I would rather bitch and moan like a prepubescent drama queen and demand that AlexGRFan97, a man with far more going on in his life than a Top Gear torrent, should bend the knee and kowtow to my exact demands." Arguably the biggest difference between this pack and the previous iteration of the Ultimate Pack is the extent of the inclusion of original format Top Gear (the 1977 - 2001 version); a few series from the early '90s has now expanded to a collection of more than 200 episodes, including James May's season from 1999 in its (near)entirety. In total, footage from over 320 episodes are present. For a full list on what's been found and what's available, consult the spreadsheet. In addition to this, there's also most of the episodes of Quentin Willson's The Car's The Star, and a good chunk of other spinoff shows such as Rally Report and Top Gear Motorsport. There's even a few bits and pieces of Top Gear GTi, UKTV's low-budget series that aired daily back in the day. Over the course of my first break from my University's Masters course, I applied for MotorTrend On Demand with an American VPN and filmed every episode from Series 1 - 13 with OBS, barring a couple of specials. Unfortunately I have had to reuse the same rip of S09E01 that has existed for more than a decade as even now it seems it will never be rebroadcast, despite the fact Hammond's crash was reshown in the Season 3 finale of The Grand Tour. The quality difference during the mid 2000s seasons is negligible at best, and so I've elected to postpone their release to a later date and a separate torrent. Now the quality of these rips are not perfect; since screen recorders often skip frames I filmed each episode in 50 FPS, meaning many frames are duplicated and causes everything to look slightly slower/jerkier than it should. Unless you know what to look for, you will not notice this. If you do, and you happen to have a copy of MPC, then set the video renderer to the aforementioned D3D setting, and it will look smooth. Ideally you should be using VLC though. In addition, the compression algorithms used by MotorTrend for the earlier series means that the quality you're watching them in is still far from how the master copies look; if you want an idea watch the Vietnam webrip or the SBS version of S1 or hell, any of the pre-2010 DVDs. That is how sharp and clear they should look. Regardless, the difference between them and the BBC2/Prime recordings should be immediately noticeable. I spent a lot of time doing this, and I do not want anyone else to claim this work for themselves. As a result there is a VERY subtle incidental "watermark" (if you could even call it that) in the MTOD rips that you really have to look for in order to notice. It's not a word or a logo; something much more difficult to spot. But if I see someone else trying to claim these rips as their own, they will be crucified. If you are to use these, either credit me or make your own MTOD rip. Series 14 through 18, along with the specials of that time period, have been added from the Top Gear HD torrent and are all in 1080i, albeit in .ts instead of .mkv, since attempts to convert them did not work. If you have that torrent (magnet link: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:sulrvqx3wkwg3fbovxc6aa2a6jpj2t5j&dn=Top%20Gear%20HD&xl=173886519384&fc=39), feel free to copy the files over and rename them accordingly. I managed to find the 50 Years of Bond Cars special on another site and added it to the pile as well. I then spent the next few months attempting to locate the final four series; since they aired around the same time as Finalgear's famed FTP server was shut down, it was markedly more difficult to locate these but not impossible. In addition to Clarkson's home videos, barring the season boxsets, I have bought and personally ripped every DVD release of Top Gear from 2003 - 2014 in lossless quality. The time for mediocre 700 MB rips is over; what you see is exactly what you'd get if you popped the DVD in your computer and watched it. If you own a Plex server, you should be able to drop these straight in. However, in spite of these inclusions, you will notice one thing missing; anything produced by either the trio or the BBC after Series 22. The fact is I could easily have included every season of The Grand Tour, but you see, this is a program that relies solely on the coffers of Bezos and Co., and not the British public. It is your job as fans of the trio to support them in any way you can. And so I ask you, from the bottom of my heart if you haven't done so already, to pay for Amazon Prime and watch their show the legal way. Or to buy their DVDs/Blu-Rays. Maybe in a couple years' time when TGT's done and dusted I might consider their inclusion, but for the time being, I have made the conscious decision to not include them. As for post-CHM Top Gear, I really do not want the BBC on my ass for distributing the most recent episodes of a show I quite literally have zero interest in. Not to mention the ideological objectifications I have to the way they continue to appropriate the work of Clarkson and Wilman as their own, not even crediting them like the Walking Dead does for Frank Darabont. Yes, Top Gear was Derek Smith's brainchild and the intellectual property of the BBC. But it Was Clarkson and Wilman who came up with the idea of having a "base" in Dunsfold, a tame racing driver by the name of "The Stig", fast cars for said Stig to drive around on their own track, cheap cars in strange lands, and celebrities setting fast lap times, and the fact that their names are not honoured in the end credits is just disgraceful and symbolic of the BBC's hypocritical erasure yet insistence on continuing to cash-in on their work through new DVD compilations. Copyright worries is the same reason as to why I have stopped my Fifth Gear coverage at S10 (originally planned to go to S16 but I was finished with building this archive up), when the original program was cancelled for the first time and rebooted back into its more sensible original iteration. Similar to Top Gear, I'd have no interest in including the post-Needell seasons.
